Our Great Northwest Forests

It’s impossible to think about our great Northwest without the forests that define us. They bring us trees, wildlife, clean water, recreation, our livelihoods, and a place to restore our spirits with a breath of fresh air. Our Great Northwest Forests are who we are – past, present, and future.

Clean Water

Even if you’ve never set foot in a forest, they have a tremendous positive impact on our lives. Our Great Northwest Forests harbor the rivers, streams, and watersheds that provide us with clean drinking water for our homes, farms, and communities.

Recreation

Our Great Northwest Forests are world-renowned for their limitless recreational opportunities. In just one week, you can hike along the Pacific Crest Trail, raft down a wild and scenic river, climb a volcano, or camp with your friends and family in a coastal rainforest. There is no better way to refresh your mind, body, and soul than spending time in our Great Northwest Forests.

Wildlife

Whether you like to hunt, fish, or just take photos, the forests of the Northwest make that possible. Our Great Northwest Forests provide refuge for herds of deer and elk, blue ribbon salmon and steelhead runs, and centuries-old trees for a wide range of species from bald eagles to black bears.

Our Livelihoods

Even as the ways we use and sustain them have changed, our Great Northwest Forests remain an important economic engine that helps sustain communities in our region. Whether it is the rapidly expanding outdoor recreation industry or working in the woods, our Great Northwest Forests are a vital part of how we make a living.
